lacie, ’rugged’ hard drive, design by neil poulton.

with over 6 million units sold since it’s introduction in 2005, the lacie “rugged” portable hard drive has become an icon — the de-facto ’tool of the trade’ for creative, video, film and music industry professionals.

two decades after it first dropped, “rugged” remains a timeless design statement.
neil poulton’s basketball-inspired design language, combining aesthetics, tactile ergonomics, and functionality, has proven to be as enduring as “rugged” itself.

the original 2005 lacie rugged, design by neil poulton, is included in the permanent collection of centre georges pompidou – beaubourg – in paris, france.

red dot design award (twice), Etoile De L’observeur Du Design award.
